I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.- John 15:1-4

Throughout the bible there are so many scriptures on horticulture. Starting when God created the heavens and the earth. The scriptures in John 15 has a powerful revelation within it, and that is life and life more abundantly. Living and life have two distinct differences:

LIVE: .

to continue in existence, operation, memory, etc.; last: a book that lives in my memory.

to maintain or support one’s existence; provide for oneself: to live on one’s income.

to feed or subsist (usually followed by on or upon ): to live on rice and bananas.
LIFE:

1.the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to enviroment through changes originating internally.
2.a corresponding state, existence, or principle of existence conceived of as belonging to the soul:

All life on earth begins with a seed. A seed that has the power of life locked inside of it. I want to make this extremely practical for your life. When a gardener begins to plant seed they possess certain components in order to grow a seed. 1. A seed (you) 2. Dirt (your environment) 3. Water (God,bible, blessing, etc) 4. Sun (Jesus)5. Oxygen(God’s spoken word) All this is necessary to live and to have life. Here is where things get hazy for your life and that is verse 2 of John 15, “he cuts off every branch in me, that bears no fruit” This process sometimes appears that we are losing more than gaining. It has the feeling of destruction for our lives. Those things that we are stretching to obtain and seek looks further away. However, it is just the opposite it is the greatest process for your life and those that are among us. It feels uncomfortable but in essence it is the greatest feeling. What do I mean? lets look at the latter part of verse 2. “so that it will be even more fruitful” When a woman hair is damaged or is not growing properly, what does she do? Clip her ends so that her hair can grow more FULL ER. Just like a plant (YOU) there are people places and things that are not helping you grow. It’s taking up space. Sucking the substance from OTHER areas that need more life (relationships, your well being), and are weighing you down from your next level.

Pruning is one of the best displays of love. We get pruned so that we become stronger. For those of us who have children, isn’t this why we teach, train, and discipline? Have you ever told your children “this is for your own good”? Cutting off branches that may do them harm. God is doing the same for your life that true vine that sustains life. Jesus states in verse 4 Remain in me because a branch can not bear no fruit by itself. What is fruit? The effect of being connected to the vine(LIFE ITSELF) The purpose of the seed. When you have life within you, you have the ability to recreate life. Here is your homework read Galatians 5 paying close attention to verses 21-25. In part 2 we will breakdown the fruit of your life.

Ephesians 4:2-5

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
